Once upon a time, there lived a little cloud,
Cumulusina was her name.
So small and round…
A woolly lamb she seemed to be.
She was a frisky young cloud,
With a feisty nature too,
Who only liked to play alone,
Not with the friends she knew.
Others would come to her
Bouncing with delight.
But little Cumulusina
Would swiftly glide out of sight.

“Don’t run away!” they would say.
“Little cloud, you’re so alone.”
“Join us, Cumulusina!”
“Let’s play rain!”
So curious that she was,
This little round cloud
Staring at the others stayed:
“I don’t know what rain is…”
“You don’t know what rain is!?”
Asked in chorus the little clouds.
“These are water droplets that,
When chubby grown, will fall.”

Cumulusina, always very attentive,
Soon began to imagine:
“How can I, so little,
Cause the rain to fall?”
“We are made of water,” the friends started.
“When we jump and play
We are able to grow…”
“And the droplets gain weight.”
Excited Cumulusina
Began to jump and bounce around.
She did twenty somersaults,
Trying to make rain fall down.

“Little cloud, join us!”
Again the little friends said.
“Together we can do it!”
“It will be simple to understand.”
Cumulusina joined her friends:
“Yes, of course! Of course!”
Up and down, together,
Like a fortress they appeared to be.
“It tickles so much!” they laughed,
Did somersaults, and played.
So distracted they didn’t notice
That into a great cloud they became.

We could still hear
Cumulusina whispering:
“Thank you, dear friends! I loved,
Playing rain so very much!”
Together they turned into
A happy Cumulonimbus,
Who soon gave a loud strong
T-h-u-u-n-n-n-d-e-r sneeze.
The new cloud got so puffy,
So big it became,
The droplets grew heavy
And soon formed the rain.
A lot of rain could
The great Cumulonimbus make.
It gave to many boys and girls
A beautiful storm for all to see.
It’s time for sleep now.
Time to end our story.
Sleep tight, little ones!
Let us with Cumulusina dream.
See you tomorrow!

Look at the sky, look for clouds, observe the differences.
Notice… is it raining or sunny? Are they tall (“chubby”) or short? Are they far away or close to you?
Are they grey or yellow… or even pink? Small, big?
Ask yourself… And fog? Is fog also a cloud?
Is it raining? Feel the water. Is it cold?
Draw and paint your cloud, what will it look like? Imagine.
